Watch out for police impersonators, who impersonate police officers for a living.
The majority of private security guards are power tripping assholes who didn’t have the qualifications to become police officers, so they play dress up and wear tactical uniforms with the closest thing to “police” written on them.

Also: never trust a man with a short-bed pickup.

Another reason is that getting a guard card isn’t hard(in ca). Do a lengthly but simple online course, some paperwork, fingerprints scanned, and boom your a renta-cop

I haven’t ever spoken directly with mall cops to know how many have a power trip thing, but it cracks me up the extent to which some companies work to make their cars look as much like squad cars as possible.

Dummy in a fake cop car, like a real stuffed dummy.

Heh. I love “public safety enforcers”. Especially when there wasn’t even any “public” to keep “safe”. When they get mad I just go “Oh yeah? Well if you call the police right away then I’ll only have about a 3 minute head start. See ya!”. And that was in the old 1997 monte carlo.....God forbid I harassed them in my ST. Those poor Jeep compasses.
Fucking paul blart lookalikes worshipping the badge of public safety but embrace exactly NONE of the responsibility. I never ever EVER see them helping someone with a jump start or changing a tire or helping a kid find their parents. Meanwhile I was checking out a low tire warning in the rain on my fiesta and the cops made sure I was back on the road in a safe manner and held an umbrella over me while I filled up a tire. Another gave me a ride home in a snowstorm when I was walking home from a bar. Another helped give me a push when my car died at an intersection. Yeah, there is plenty wrong with the police force on the whole, but there are still plenty who understand that they exist as a public service. Those rent-a-bullshit assholes just need to admit they just exist to harass and not really enforce anything.
